Alcohol believed to be factor in serious crash on Round Lake Road

A Pembroke man is facing charges after a two-vehicle collision on Round Lake Road, between Borne Road and Rahns Road in Laurentian Valley Township, which sent two people to hospital.
OPP say an eastbound passenger vehicle and a westbound water tanker truck collided on July 11, 2018, just after 6 a.m.
The LVTP Fire Department and the Petawawa Fire Department extricated both drivers who were taken to hospital by paramedics with serious injuries. There were no passengers in the involved vehicles.
OPP Technical Collision Investigation members assisted with the investigation.
As a result of the investigation the driver of the passenger vehicle, Daniel Edward Wice, 37, was arrested in early January and charged with the following Criminal Code offences:
– Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm
– Impaired driving causing bodily harm
– Driving with more than 80mgs of alcohol in his blood
He was released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on February 5.
