An Ottawa man is facing an aggravated assault charge after a crash on Riverside Drive at Revelstoke Drive.

Police said the incident happened around 10 p.m., back on March 8.

A man allegedly assaulted a 71-year-old man at the scene of the collision.

According to police, the suspect was near the crash and attempted to get one of the collision victims to accept his tow service. That is when the assault victim approached the scene. He got into a verbal confrontation which turned physical and he suffered serious injuries.

Omar Abouammo, 28, of Ottawa has been released from custody with a promise to appear in court at a later date.
