Arrest made in Barrhaven home break-in

The Ottawa Police Service has charged an 18-year-old with breaking and entering after a man was found inside of a home on Southam Way in Barrhaven.

A 15-year-old arrived home in the early afternoon on Tuesday, April 2, and confronted a suspect inside the house. The resident then quickly left to call 911. 

Officers arrived on scene quickly and found the suspect, who was still in the home. 

An arrested was made without incident.  

Yezen Al-Katta, 18, of Ottawa, is charged with:

  • Break and Enter and commit an indictable offence (theft)
  • Mischief under $5000
  • Possession of Break and Enter instruments 

Al-Katta will be in court on May 6. 

OPS Break and Enter Investigators are asking residents in the Southam Way area to check their home security footage for any suspicious people that might have come to their door or passed in front of the home recently.
