Arrest made in theft on Bank Street, near Walkley Road

A man, believed to have pepper sprayed a security guard during a theft at a store on Bank Street, just south of Walkley Road, is now facing a number of charges.

The incident happened on March 30.

Following an anonymous tip, and through further investigation, the Ottawa Police Service said it was able to identify its suspect in the case.   

Joshua Palmer-Waugh, 27, of Ottawa, was arrested and is facing charges of:

  • Robbery
  • Administer noxious substance
  • Assault with a weapon
  • Carry concealed weapon
  • Possession of a weapon
  • Possession of a prohibited weapon
  • Escape lawful custody
  • Breach of recognizance 

Palmer-Waugh was in court Wednesday morning.
