The Trans-Canada Highway is back open and a 39-year-old Montreal truck driver is facing a charge after a transport flipped onto its side along the roadway.
Upper Ottawa Valley Ontario Provincial Police officers say the incident happened around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday.
A westbound tractor trailer lost control and rolled on Hwy 17, between Brouse Road and Bass Lake Road in Laurentian Hills, spilling powdered nickel on the highway.
The driver, and lone occupant of the truck, was not injured.
Local detours were put in place and Hwy 17 was closed for almost 12 hours as a result of the investigation, and to allow for the removal of the transport and the spilled cargo.
Jean Francois Gagnon has been charged with careless driving.
