Carleton Place man dead in Highway 7 car crash near Hazeldean Road

A man from Carleton Place is dead following an early morning single car crash that happened on Highway 7.

OPP say they responded to the collision on the highway eastbound in the area of Hazeldean Road at about 5 a.m. Thursday.

The investigation found that a car left the roadway, rolled and crossed the grass centre median and came to a rest in the westbound lanes.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was a 32-year-old man.

He was ejected from the vehicle a pronounced dead at the scene.

The westbound lanes of Highway 7 will be closed for several hours and one lane on the eastbound lanes will also be closed for the rest of the investigation.

A detour has been set up and is now in effect.

The OPP collision investigators are on scene to determine the cause of the crash.
