Charge laid in Gatineau suspicious death turned homicide

By Mike Vlasveld

A Gatineau man is facing a homicide charge in the death of a 25-year-old, who police discovered, suffering from serious injuries, in a Rue du Vigneau home.

Gatineau police officers visited 328 Rue du Vigneau following a 911 call, just after midnight Tuesday.

The victim was found and taken to hospital where he passed away.

At that time, police immediately put up a security perimeter to protect the crime scene and allow investigators and technicians of the Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine Laboratory to do their jobs.

Investigators say the accused was found not far from 328 Rue du Vigneau.

Timmy Ménard-Mélo, 21, of Gatineau has been arrested and charged.

In order not to interfere with the investigation and the judicial process that may follow, no further information regarding this case or the possible links between the accused and the victim can be revealed.

The identity of the victim is not being revealed at this time either.
