Charges laid after police execute search warrant at Bancroft residence

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) has seized a quantity of illegal drugs in Bancroft, while also recovering stolen property.

On August 2, 2022, members of the street crime unit assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team (ERT), OPP Canine Unit and members of the Bancroft detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Bridge Street East.

Officers seized a quantity of suspected fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine and psilocybin. They also recovered small gold and silver bars, hundreds of dollars in cash and a variety of stolen property. While the investigation continues, two local break-ins have been resolved.

Twelve people were arrested at the scene.

David Joseph Vautour, 59, of Bancroft is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime

This accused was scheduled to appear for a bail hearing at the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on August 4, 2022.

David Thomas Vautour, 33, and Zon Rawcliffe, 36, both from Bancroft, are charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of property obtained by crime 

Christina Hudson, 37, and Erika Olmstead, 28, both from Maynooth are charged with:

  • Possession of schedule 1 substance

Joseph Kidoman, 48, of Bancroft,  Ashley Shaw, 32 of Oshawa and Joshua Welsh, 39, of Gorham are charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Fail to comply with a probation order

Kent Bowers, 39, is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking 
  • Fail to comply with a release order 

Joseph Vautour, 61, of Bancroft is charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule 1 substance for the purpose of trafficking
  • Possession of a schedule 3 substance for the purpose of trafficking

Two individuals were released with no charges being laid.

All of these accused, with the exception of one with a scheduled bail hearing, were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in Bancroft on October 25, 2022.
