Driver charged after vehicle caught going wrong way on 417 in Kanata

A 56-year-old Peterborough man is facing charges, including impaired driving, after a vehicle was stopped going eastbound in the westbound lands of Highway 417 near Terry Fox Drive.
Ottawa OPP officers spotted the vehicle just after 2 a.m. on Sunday.
Todd McLarty was charged with:
- Dangerous Driving contrary to section 320.13(1) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle while over 80 milligrams of alcohol contrary to section 320.14(1)(b) of the Criminal Code of Canada
- Operation of a Motor Vehicle while Impaired by alcohol contrary to section 320.14 (1)(a) of the Criminal Code of Canada
The accused was released on a promise to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice on Elgin Street in Ottawa, April 17.
The Ottawa OPP reminds all motorists to not operate vehicles after consuming alcohol or drugs.
