Five Gatineau firefighters injured after battling east end blaze for over two hours

Investigators estimate about $278,600 in damages.

Firefighters in Gatineau were called to a fire that included two buildings in Gatineau is east end, required 45 firefighters and 18 fire trucks on scene.

Gatineau Fire Services were called  to 395 du Vigneau and the other at 272 Saint-René Friday night just before 7 p.m.

Both buildings were evacuated before firefighters arrived. No residents were hurt but five firefighters did sustain injuries.

The heat from the flames gave firefighters a hard time but eventually they got the fire under control by 9:15 p.m.

Investigators estimate about $278,600 in damages.
