Five people arrested after Gatineau police break up drug trafficking operation

Gatineau police say they've taken out a major drug trafficking network in the area.

Officers launched an investigation weeks ago, using information from the public, and on May 6 were able to search two properties and seize of various types of drugs, including a large amount of GHB. 

Police searched one house at 605 Buckingham Ave., apartment 4, in Gatineau, and another at 48 Mitchell Rd., apartment 2, in Val-des-Monts.

Five individuals were arrested; three men in their 50s and two women in their 20s and 30s. Gatineau police say several charges related to drug possession and trafficking will be referred to the Director of Criminal and Penal Prosecutions (DPCP) against these individuals.

In total, these searches enabled the police to seize, among other things:

  • A little more than 40 litres of GHB;
  • Almost 2,750 grams of illegal cannabis;
  • A little more than 190 gr of hashish;
  • 40 gr of ecstasy;
  • Almost 110 gr of cocaine;
  • A little more than 60 gr of crystal meth;
  • 10,833 speed tablets;
  • A little more than 73 gr of magic mushrooms;
  • 325 cannabis plants;
  • 118 tablets of Hydromorph Contin;
  • A small amount of powdered methamphetamine;
  • 14 THC vapers;
  • Cannabis infused candies;
  • 29 tablets of an unknown substance;
  • Equipment used for growing cannabis
  • Equipment used for drug trafficking;
  • And a little over $ 3,000 in Canadian currency.
