The Ottawa Police Service has identified and charged four teens in relation to an assault of a 15-year-old boy at St. Peter's High School.

Officers were called to the incident on November 8, around 11 a.m.

A crowd of students had gathered and recorded a fight, which was then shared by several people on social media.

Four teens have since been charged with aggravated assault, following the investigation by an Ottawa Police School Resource Officer.

“The Ottawa Police consider all acts of violence to be serious matters,” said Acting Staff Sgt. Steve Boucher, with the School Resource Officers Section. “We don't consider the online posting of these fights and assaults to be appropriate. We encourage anyone witnessing such events to phone police immediately.”

Charged are:

– Patrick Mbaya, 18, of Ottawa;
– Shirlvin Desir, 18, of Ottawa;
– A 17-year-old boy, of Ottawa;
– A second 17-year-old boy, also of Ottawa.

Mbaya is scheduled to appear in court on January 16, while Desir and the two minors will appear on January 15.
