By Mike Vlasveld

Despite a quick rescue effort, a 60-year-old man has died after becoming trapped under a vehicle on Durocher Street at Deschamps Avenue.

Those roads are expected to be closed for several hours as police investigate.

The Ottawa Fire Service arrived on the scene around 12:20 p.m., Friday. Crews quickly assembled tools needed to lift and stabilize the vehicle and were able to free the trapped person in about seven minutes.

Paramedics said the man was in cardiac arrest and needed aggressive resuscitation, including the insertion of needles to his chest.

The man was initially reported to be in critical condition before passing away just after 3 p.m.
