The Gatineau Police Service and the Coroner's Office have begun an investigation following the discovery of a body in the Aylmer area.

Officers were called to a bike path Wednesday, around 7:45 p.m., where they identified the body as that of Ian Lambert.

The 45-year-old had been missing since February 16.

A security perimeter has been set up to protect the scene and to allow investigators and forensic technicians to analyze it.

The body was transported to the Laboratory of Forensic Science and Forensic Medicine in Montreal for an autopsy to be performed, Thursday.

Out of respect for Lambert and his family, no other details will be disclosed.
