By Alex Robinson

Police are investigating break-ins at least 11 community mailboxes in Cantley, Que. over the last few days.

A Canada Post spokesperson said their local operations in the area are in the process of assessing the damage and undertaking the necessary repairs to the mailboxes.

“For now, we are going to card parcels and the customers will have to pick them up at their local postal counter — we ask that the customers check their delivery notice card for the postal counter location and the hours of operation,” the spokesperson said in an email.

Canada Post said that any customers who have not received an expected package, must first notify the shipper to start a claim. Then they must call Canada Post's customer service department at 1-800-267-1177.

Canada Post also encouraged anyone who witnesses suspicious activity to immediately notify police and Canada Post at 1-800-267-1177.
