Grenville OPP looking for suspects in attempted theft

By Dani-Elle Dubé

Grenville OPP is asking for the public’s help in identifying the suspects and vehicle that were involved in an attempted theft in Augusta Township.

Police say that on Wednesday at about 5:20 p.m., a package was delivered to the mailbox at the end of the complainant’s property on Algonquin Road.

The complainant exited the home to get the package minutes after it was delivered and witnessed the front passenger of a black sedan appearing to remove the package from the mailbox.

The complainant hurried toward the mailbox, at which time the unknown vehicle and occupants drove away quickly.

It is believed the suspect vehicle had been following the courier vehicle to observe for deliveries.

Police want to remind residents to be vigilant when having items delivered to their homes.

They also want delivery drivers to remain alert and report incidents where they feel they are being followed.

Anyone with information or surveillance footage that involves this investigation is asked to notify OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
