Homicide under investigation in Gatineau

A 23-year-old's body was found in a basement on Saturday.

The Gatineau Police Service is looking into the city's second homicide of 2018.

Joey Morin, 23, of Gatineau was found dead on Saturday at around 10 a.m., in the basement of his Fernand-Arvisais St. home, in the District du Lac-Beauchamp area. Officers were responding to a call to check on the resident's well being.

An autopsy performed Monday morning, at the Laboratory of Forensic Sciences and Forensic Medicine in Montreal, confirmed that it was a homicide.

The SPVG Forensic Identification Service are expected to be on the scene today.

The investigation has been on-going since Saturday, which included a neighborhood survey.
