By Canadian Press

A 19-year-old man is dead and three other people are in hospital following a collision on Hwy 416, near Third Line.

OPP say a southbound vehicle crossed the median and collided with a northbound vehicle. A second northbound vehicle then struck the first. This all happened just after 9 p.m., Thursday.

The southbound driver was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the first northbound vehicle suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to hospital, while the driver of the third vehicle was not injured.

The highway was fully closed in both directions at the crash scene, between Roger Stevens Drive and Dilworth Road, while police conducted an investigation.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigators and members of the Ottawa OPP Detachment are continuing to investigate the cause of the crash.
