Joint police operation into shooting, drug trafficking results in three arrests in Ottawa, Smiths Falls

A five-month investigation into shooting and drug trafficking incidents came to an end as a result of a joint police operation involving the Ottawa Police Service (OPS), Smiths Falls Police, OPP and RCMP.

On the morning of Friday, October 22, the OPS Guns and Gangs Unit executed warrants at five Ottawa addresses and one in Smiths Falls.

The six locations were identified as having a connection to the shooting and drug trafficking incidents.

As a result, a 22-year-old man from Ottawa as well as a 44-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman from Smiths Falls were charged for possession for the purpose of trafficking.

Seized items in Ottawa and Smiths Falls included:

  • Hydromorphone
  • Fentanyl
  • Cocaine
  • OxyContin
  • Methylphenidate
  • Stolen property over $5,000
  • Prohibited weapons (pepper spray)
