Large amount of weapons found at Brockville property

By OttawaMatters Staff

Brockville police officers got more than they bargained for when responding to a report of a person who had overdosed.

Officers arrived at a home on Pearl Street Wednesday evening, to find a man who had to be treated by paramedics and taken to Brockville General Hospital.

Police said there were a number of squatters on the property, as well as several rounds of ammunition, gun powder, a firearm, an air pistol, a stun gun, pepper spray, and an “unknown military ordinance,” believed to be a large mortar round.

The OPP's explosives unit was called in to deal with the shell.

Brockville police say the property was owned by a collector of military weapons, and the man had been renting out rooms before the property became vacant.

Two of the squatters were arrested and charged with weapons offences and drug possession.
