By OttawaMatters Staff

The RCMP have identified a man struck and killed along the Trans-Canada highway in Saskatchewan.

Police say he is a 58-year-old man from Metcalfe, Ontario — just outside of Ottawa.

His body was discovered around 7:30 a.m. on January 5, on the southern edge of the eastbound lanes of Highway 1 just east of the Alberta border.

The RCMP believe the man was struck by a passing vehicle the night before, some time between 7 and 8:15 p.m.

They are asking for any drivers who witnessed the event to come forward, or for anyone who spotted vehicles with noticeable damage in the area to give them a call.
