Moose shot in Beacon Hill South after charging officer

By Jeff Slack

The Ottawa Police Service had to put down a moose on Blair Road near Ogilvie Road, after officers say it showed aggressive behaviour.

Officers were called to the area around 11 a.m., Saturday, and showed up to find a male moose wandering around.

Police attempted to contain the animal, as they waited for the Ministry of Natural Resources to show up, but the animal became anxious and charged at a one of the officers.

At that point police put the moose down.

The officer who was brushed by the animal sustained minor injuries.
