An injured Leeds County swan is now safe at a wildlife centre.
Ontario Provincial Police officers were called Saturday afternoon, to deal with the bird which had been sitting on a bike path along the Thousand Islands Parkway.
One of the main concerns was with the attention the swan was drawing from the road — police were worried it might cause a crash.
Officers arrived in the Chisamore Point Road area and located the swan. With the assistance of a volunteer and despite a rather vicious protest from the swan, the bird was transported to a wildlife centre in Napanee.
