Ottawa police arrest man in Heron Gate on gun charges

Police were actively searching for Ahmed Hassan for allegedly failing to appear in court and breaching probation when they found him on Cedarwood Drive.

Ottawa police arrested a 27-year-old man who they say had a loaded gun in the Heron Gate area Saturday.

Police were actively searching for Ahmed Hassan for allegedly failing to appear in court and breaching probation when they found him on Cedarwood Drive.

Police said they seized a .45 calibre handgun and Hassan was taken into custody without incident.

He now faces a long list of charges:

- Possess Firearm 
- Carry Concealed Weapon 
- Possess Weapons Dangerous 
- Careless Storage Of A Firearm 
- Unlicensed Person Possess Prob/Restricted Weapon 
- Possess Restricted/Prohibited Firearm Knowingly Not Holding A Licence and Registration Certificate. 
- Possess Loaded Firearm 
- Possess Firearm While Prohibited C
