Ottawa police arrest woman following multiple pharmacy and gas station robberies

An Ottawa woman, wanted for a series of pharmacy and gas station robberies, is facing a number of charges.

Officers arrested the suspect without incident on Tuesday. 

Amalia Assad-Espinoza, 28, of Ottawa, is facing charges of:

– Robbery (5 counts)
– Disguise with intent (3 counts)          
– Weapons dangerous (3 counts)

One of the incidents she is accused of being involved in happened at a store on Montreal Road near Lacasse Avenue around 1:10 a.m. on January 4.

Police are still looking to identify two men in that robbery. 

Assad-Espinoza appeared in court on January 16. 

The robbery unit would like to thank the broader public for their information which led to the identification and subsequent arrest of this individual.
