Ottawa police arson unit looking for person of interest after Centretown fire

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is asking for the public's help to identify a person of interest in an arson investigation.

Officers responded to a fire on Somerset Street in Centretown around 2:06 a.m. on August 26. The fire was extinguished, but police say there was extensive property damage. 

No one was injured in the blaze.

The person of interest is described as:

  • Black woman
  • Stocky build
  • Blond hair tied back (possibly a wig)
  • Wearing glasses, a white cardigan sweater over pink patterned shirt/short (jumper) and black sandals
  • Carrying a black purse and a red gasoline can
