Ottawa police identify 20-year-old Lowertown homicide victim

The Ottawa Police Service Homicide Unit is identifying the victim of a shooting on York Street as 20-year-old L Ndongonzi Nkuzimana, and is also asking for any witnesses or residents with surveillance footage to come forward.

Police were called to the area after gun shots were heard at about 11:54 p.m. on Sunday, July 4. Officers arrived and found Nkuzimana, also known as Tyson Loris, of Ottawa, injured. He was later pronounced dead.

Another 20-year-old Ottawa man was seriously injured and rushed to hospital. Police say he is in stable condition.

Investigators would like to speak with anyone who may have information about this homicide. They are also asking anyone who lives or works in the neighbourhood bounded by Rideau Street, Coburg Street, Murray Street and Nelson Street to check their home surveillance equipment or dashboard cameras for suspicious activity between 11 p.m. and 1 a.m. that night
