Ottawa police looking for catalytic converter thieves in Heron Gate area

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is asking for the public's help to identify multiple people involved in break and enters resulting in the theft of catalytic converters.

Between late April and early May of this year, police say several underground parking garages have been broken into in the Heron Gate area, with the aim appearing to be cutting catalytic converters from vehicles.

As of June 8, 2021, the OPS says there has been a 324 per cent increase in catalytic converter thefts compared to the first six months of 2020.

Police have captured images of eight suspects:

Suspect 1: Man, light brown skin, black face mask, wearing a grey jacket with a red logo on the hood and left arm, black jeans, black boots.

Suspect 2: Man, early 20s, short black hair, black facial hair, light brown skin, blue surgical mask, black hoodie, grey cargo pants, black and gold Adidas running shoes.

Suspect 3: Man, black hoodie with hood up, black face mask, black gloves, bright blue pants, black shoes, carrying a black and red duffle bag.

Suspect 4: Man, black hoodie with hood up, blue surgical mask, grey pants, black running shoes, carrying a red garage jack.

Suspect 5: Man, light brown skin, black sweater with offset front zipper, black face mask, black jeans, black work boots.

Suspect 6: Man, black sweater with white lettering on chest and along right sleeve, light grey jogging pants, black running shoes.

Suspect 7: Man, approximately 20-30 years old, short dark hair, black face mask at chin level, black sweater.

Suspect 8: Man, black jacket, grey pants, black shoes, black backpack

Anyone with information about these individuals, can identify any of them, or has any information in relation to these incidents, is asked to contact the Ottawa Police Break and Enter Unit at 613-236-1222 ext. 4533.
