Police are looking to speak with witnesses to a shooting and collision in the city's Heron Gate area.

Shortly after 9 p.m. on Thursday, August 26, the Ottawa Police Service (OPS) responded to the area of Heatherington Road and Albion Road, where shots had been fired at a vehicle with two men inside.

Police say the vehicle then swerved to avoid the gunfire and collided with several parked cars.

The driver of the targeted vehicle then saw an Ottawa ambulance crossing their path at the intersection of Bank Street and Alta Vista Drive, and according to police, the driver decided to intercept the paramedic crew in order to get medical attention.

The men were assessed, treated for non-life-threatening injuries and taken to hospital by paramedics.

Investigators with the OPS Guns and Gangs Unit would like to speak with anyone who may have information about this incident, or who may have dashcam or security footage that could help the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 613-236-1222 ext. 5050. Anonymous tips can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers toll-free at 1-800-222-8477 or at crimestoppers.ca.
