Ottawa Police seize replica firearm in downtown gunshot incident, one man arrested

One man has been arrested after Ottawa Police responded to a possible shooting in the downtown area. At about 6 a.m.

One man has been arrested after Ottawa police responded to a possible shooting in the downtown area. 

At about 6 a.m. on Wednesday, two witnesses heard gunshots and one witness saw a man take out a gun out of a bag and fire it in the area of Bank Street and Slater Street.

Officers located and arrested the suspect without incident.

A starter pistol and ammunition was seized.

A similar incident involving the same suspect happened on November 26.

Pascal Ouimet, 42, of no fixed address, was charged with:

  • possession weapon dangerous to public peace
  • mischief

He was scheduled to appear in court today.

The investigation is ongoing.
