Ottawa police searching for Rideau Street knifepoint robbery suspect

The Ottawa Police Service (OPS) is asking for the public's help to identify a man involved in a robbery on Rideau Street.

Officers say a man approached someone on the street near the Rideau Centre around 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, October 6, flashed a knife and stole an undisclosed amount of money from them before taking off on a bicycle. 

The victim was not injured in the incident.

The suspect is described as:

  • White
  • In his 40s
  • Medium to large build
  • Between 200 lbs (91 kg) and 220 lbs (100 kg)
  • Between 5' 9'' (175 cm) and 5' 11'' (180 cm) 
  • Short hair
  • Was wearing a blue t-shirt, light-coloured shorts over grey pants, a light-coloured Titleist hat, grey gloves, a black/grey backpack, and black running shoes
