Ottawa woman charged in Highway 17 rollover crash near Pembroke

Police also uncovered cocaine in the vehicle.

A 28-year-old Ottawa woman is facing a couple of charges after a vehicle flipped into a ditch on Highway 17, just east of Whitewater Road near Pembroke.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) officers responded to the crash around 6:40 a.m. on Saturday, April 3.

Preliminary investigation found that the vehicle was headed westbound before it crossed into the eastbound lane and left the roadway, eventually coming to rest upside down in a ditch. 
 
The driver, who was the only one in the vehicle, was taken to hospital by paramedics with minor injuries. 

Police also uncovered cocaine in the vehicle.
 
Kayla Ashley Dutfield has been charged with:

  • Careless driving
  • Possession of a schedule I substance - cocaine

The accused was released and is scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on May 18.
