Over 1,900 cannabis plants seized in South Dundas drug raid

Two people from Georgetown are facing charges related to growing illegal cannabis after OPP executed a search warrant found a total of approximately $1.9-million of the product growing on a property in South Dundas. 

OPP executed a search warrant on Tuesday, July 13, at a rural property on Glen Stewart Road in the Town of Brinston in South Dundas — about an hour south of Ottawa. 

In the search, police found over 1,900 cannabis plants on the property.

As a result of the investigation, Longxing Chen, 65, and Xinqiang Chen, 43, both of Georgetown, are each charged with cultivating, propagating or harvesting a cannabis plant that is from seed to plant material that is illicit to cannabis.

Officers from the Stormont Dundas and Glengarry Detachment Ontario Provincial Police, Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU), Provincial Asset Forfeiture Unit (PAFU), Organized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB), Provincial Joint Forces Cannabis Enforcement Team (PJFCET) and Emergency Response Team (ERT) all assisted in the seizure.

All accused were released from police custody and are schedule to appear in a Cornwall courtroom on September, 9.
