Pembroke resident charged while driving power assisted bicycle impaired

A 51-year-old Pembroke resident is facing impaired driving charges after being stopped while driving a power-assisted bicycle in Pembroke.

On Aug. 23, at approximately 7:30 a.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) conducted a traffic stop of a person driving a power-assisted bicycle near the intersection of MacKay Street and Joseph Street. 

As a result of the investigation Garry John Kennedy, is facing the following charges:

  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration over 80 milligrams (mg)
  • Operation while prohibited 
  • Driving while under suspension

The accused was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Sept. 27.
