Petawawa resident charged with impaired driving after collision with parked vehicle

A Petawawa resident is facing impaired driving charges and a 90-day licence suspension after colliding with an unattended parked vehicle. 

On Sept. 13, at approximately 7 p.m., members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) received a report of a possible impaired driver in Petawawa. The vehicle was located a short time later where it collided with an unattended parked vehicle on private property on a residential street. The driver was not injured. 

As a result of this investigation, Matthew Cordeiro, 36, of Petawawa, has been charged with: 

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol and drugs
  • Failure or refusal to comply with demand

The accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle towed and impounded for seven days and was released to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Oct. 18, 2022.
