Police identify victim of Ottawa's first homicide of the new year

The victim is a 20-year-old man and people are asking for anyone with information to come forward.

Ottawa police say they have identified the victim of a shooting that happened in the city’s south end.

Police found the man with gunshot wounds Saturday at around 3 a.m. in the area of Hunt Club Road and Pike Street.

The deceased man has been identified a 20-year-old Mehdi El-Hajj Hassan.

The investigation is being treated as a homicide and is ongoing.
