Previous story:

The Ottawa Police Service's Major Crime Unit needs the public's help to identifying a woman who it wants to talk to, regarding the homicide on Carruthers Avenue.

Investigators say the woman is not a suspect in the murder of Guled Ahmed, and they are not calling her a person of interest, she is simply someone they want to speak with.

Officers were called to Carruthers Avenue, north of Scott Street, at 3:42 a.m. Monday, for reports of shots being fired.

There, police found the body of 23-year-old Ahmed, lying in an alleyway behind a home.

Anyone with information regarding this investigation is asked to call the Ottawa Police Major Crime Section at 613-236-1222, ext. 5493 or the Major Crime Tipline at 613-236-1222 ext. 5477.
