Police taser man in Vanier while breaking up a fight

Ottawa Police officers were called about the confrontation Tuesday afternoon.

An Ottawa man face charges after police trying to break up a fight yesterday afternoon in Vanier had to taser a man armed with a baseball bat.

Patrol officers were called about a confrontation in the street near Montreal Road and Begin Street.

Police tried to get one of the men to drop the baseball bat he was carrying, but he wrestled with the officers instead, and spit blood at them.

Officers used a taser to subdue the man.

One of the patrol officers was injured when the suspect kicked him in the leg.

Guillaume Michaud, 29, faces charges of assaulting a police officer, assault with intent to resist arrest, and possession of a weapon.
