Search continues for gun while two are charged in Woodpark shooting

Ottawa police officers believe the gun used in a Monday night shooting was thrown from a fleeing vehicle.

Two men are facing multiple weapon-related charges after a shooting and a chase on Hartleigh Avenue.

The Ottawa Police Service said the incident happened Monday night.

According to officers, the gun may have been thrown out of the accused's vehicle during the police pursuit between the intersection of Isabella Street and Percy Street, and Bronson Avenue and Riverside Drive.

Police continue to search the area.

Anyone with information about the weapon should not handle the gun and call police immediately.

Mohamed Ahmed Ali, 24, of Ottawa faces charges of:

-Careless use of a firearm
-Pointing a firearm
-Possession of a firearm dangerous to public
-Unauthorized possession of a firearm in motor vehicle
-Resist arrest
-Flight while pursued by police
-Dangerous operation of a motor vehicle
-Discharge a firearm with intent

Everton Ambrose, 28, of Ottawa faces charges of:

-Careless use of a firearm, weapon, prohibited device or ammunition, etc..
-Pointing a firearm
-Possession of a weapon dangerous to public
-Unauthorized possession of a firearm in a motor vehicle
-Discharge a firearm with intent
-Possession of a firearm or ammunition contrary to prohibition order x5

Ali and Ambrose were scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
