FOUND: Search for missing 53-year-old man on Ottawa River now a recovery operation

A 53-year-old man has been found deceased after a boat overturned on the Ottawa River.

The Ottawa Police Service Marine Unit has located the body of a missing 53-year-old boater whose vessel overturned on the Ottawa River near Dunrobin Road on Saturday, August 28. 

The name of the victim has not been released. 


Ottawa police are searching for a man who was reported missing after his boat had overturned in the Ottawa River.

Police say they were notified of the incident shortly before 4 p.m. Saturday, and immediately started the search for the missing 53-year-old man with the assistance of emergency crews that included Ottawa Fire Service, Ottawa Paramedic Service, Gatineau Fire Service and the MRC des Collines.

The man’s boat had reportedly overturned near Dunrobin Road and Opeongo Road Ottawa’s rural west end.

As of Sunday morning, crews remain on scene and continue to search for the man.

It is now considered a recovery operation at this point.

The missing man’s family has been notified and offered supports.

His name is not being released at this time
