Sentence handed down to Ottawa man involved in massive child pornography ring

By CityNews Ottawa

A 68-year-old Ottawa man has been sentenced to five-and-a-half years in prison on charges related to what the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) is calling one of the largest ever seizures of child pornography in the country.

Tristen Alexandre Perrier pleaded guilty to one charge each of making, possessing and distributing child pornography.

When imposing the sentence, Justice Wadden of the Ontario Court of Justice stated that Perrier had “glorified and memorialized” the sexual abuse of impoverished children through creating flashy magazine covers depicting it, and in so doing contributed to “this institutional form of sexual violence, which is akin to sexual slavery.”

In June of 2020, the RCMP and Ottawa police officers executed search warrants at several locations and seized over 1-million child exploitation images.

According to police, some of Perrier's activities happened while he traveled abroad and involved crimes carried out over many years, shared on the dark web.

Perrier must submit a DNA sample and will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.
