Ontario's Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is looking into the death of a 64-year-old man after he had an interaction with the Ottawa Police Service (OPS).
On August 28, around 5:30 a.m., the SIU says a man was escorted to his home by OPS officers.
The man was later taken to hospital in medical distress, where he passed away.
The SIU was advised of the death of a man who had been in police custody on August 31.
A post-mortem is scheduled for Thursday, September 2, in Ottawa.
The SIU is urging anyone who has information about this investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The unit is also urging anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload that video through the SIU website.
