Traffic impacts around downtown continue, making for slow commutes: police

By Dani-Elle Dubé

With police checkpoints still up around various parts of the city’s downtown and surrounding areas, police are warning drivers that commuting may be slow.

In a tweet on Monday, February 21, police confirmed that the 100 checkpoints were still up, while several road closures are also in effect.

“Police will simply ask for your reason for travelling within the area,” police clarified.

Pedestrian traffic is also not permitted north of Sparks Street between Elgin and Bay, unless you are a parliamentary employee.

Wellington remains closed to all traffic, including pedestrians and cyclists, while Wellington westbound remains closed at MacKenzie.
