Upper Ottawa Valley police charge man with impaired driving

A Petawawa man has been charged with imparied driving offences following an evening traffic stop on Monday, Sept.11. 

According to a press release, members of the Upper Ottawa Valley (UOV) Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) have arrested and charged Trevor Ballman, 54, after stopping him on Petawawa Boulevard at 11 p.m.

After receiving a report of a possibly impaired driver on Pembroke Street West, police pulled Ballman over and after using a Roadside Screening Device, transported him to the detachment for further testing. 

Ballman is charged with the following criminal code and Highway Traffic Act (HTA) offences:

  • Operation while impaired – alcohol
  • Operation while impaired – blood alcohol concentration 80mg plus
  • Drive motor vehicle, no currently validated permit
  • Fail to have insurance card

Police say the accused had their driver's licence suspended for 90 days and their vehicle was towed and impounded for seven days. 

Ballman was released and will appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Pembroke on Oct. 18.
