Victim identified in fatal 401 hit and run

The Ontario Provincial Police is identifying a man, killed on Hwy 401 WB just west of Gardiners Road.

It is believed that he was seen walking on the paved shoulder of the highway around 12:30 a.m. last Friday. Around 1:00 a.m., police responded to calls that someone had been hit by a car in the area. 

Officers arrived on scene and confirmed that the man was struck by a vehicle, although no vehicles remained on scene. 

The deceased male has been identified as Charles Thistlethwaite, 59, of Kingston.

The investigation is continuing and The OPP is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Frontenac Detachment Crime Unit of the OPP at 613-372-1932 or at 1-888-310-1122.
