Woman in late 20s dies at scene of collision involving four vehicles

The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a fatal collision involving four vehicles.

On Aug. 16 around 5:15 p.m., officers responded to a collision on County Road 17 and County Road 9 in the Township of Alfred-Plantagenet. The initial Investigation indicates that an eastbound vehicle struck another vehicle that was stopped for construction on the roadway causing a chain reaction with two other vehicles.

A 28-year-old female was pronounced deceased at the scene. Names are being withheld pending next-of-kin notification.

A 43-year-old female is in critical condition airlifted by an Ornge emergency helicopter.

There were minor injuries reported to another 33-year-old female and a nine-year-old boy. 

The investigation is ongoing.
