Alliance Française Ottawa accepting registrations for its fall language programs

By Danae Ingram

Since 1905, Alliance Française Ottawa (AF OTTAWA) has been helping people learn to speak French and learn about French culture through culturally engaging and fun activities.

The Alliance Française (AF) network is the largest cultural organization in the world, with the same curriculum in all its 834 chapters, of which nine are in Canada. This makes it easy for someone who travels to have pedagogical continuity – they can register at any AF and continue to learn French in the same manner and with the same quality of instruction.

AF OTTAWA is a language, exam and cultural centre that offers different francophone activities to the community, in addition to the library and Culturethèque, which is an online library.

Looking to brush up on your French language skills? The AF OTTAWA is now open for fall program registration.

Why register in an AF OTTAWA French class?

At AF OTTAWA, language classes are taught by highly qualified, native-speaking French teachers with extensive training and qualifications. They use every day modern digital tools that promote learning: interactive digital boards, tablets, e-learning platforms, digital resources, etc.

Couple that with full French Immersion programs and cultural activities throughout the year, and AF OTTAWA is the best choice for French language classes.

One unique feature of AF OTTAWA is that there is a strict level of assessment for all students to ensure that groups are homogenous.

How do AF OTTAWA students learn?

AF OTTAWA offers communication-based learning, to progress in the four communication skills: speaking, listening, writing and reading.

To promote communication, the interaction between learners and to ensure qualified courses, AF OTTAWA classes are designed to be delivered in small-sized groups. AF OTTAWA is also an official examination centre for several internationally recognized diploma and tests and can provide its students with the expertise necessary to assess their level of proficiency in French.

What are the benefits?

Students at AF OTTAWA learn to speak French while also having fun outside of the classroom. They participate in a variety of cultural activities including film-screenings, concerts, exhibitions, literature, conversation activities and food related events. AF OTTAWA gives their students the opportunity to practice French differently!

There is a financial incentive as well. AF OTTAWA is a not-for-profit registered organization, and its classes are eligible for tax deductions.

Who can take classes?

AF OTTAWA offers adult group classes (age 16 and up) and also offers private classes for teenagers and children on demand. Starting at the end of October, AF OTTAWA will offer a One of a series of philosophy workshops for children ages 6 to 12 called ‘Les petits penseurs.’
