All frontline officers of the Smiths Falls Police Service have received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccine.

Police Chief Mark MacGillivray told the Smiths Falls Police Services Board Thursday morning that all frontline officers and 911 communicators, as well as support staff, had all received their shots as of Wednesday.

The chief also thanked the hard work of the Leeds, Grenville and Lanark District Health Unit for its swift response in getting service members their vaccines.

“I want to certainly thank our local health unit for maintaining these contingency lists for our essential workers, our frontline workers as it's essential not to waste any doses,” said Chief MacGillivray.

The Ottawa Police Service began vaccinating its members on March 3, 2021.
