Deceased identified in Renfrew house fire as OPP investigation continues

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is confirming the identities of two people, found deceased after a house fire in the Town of Renfrew..

Emergency crews responded to the blaze on Fortington Street on Monday, November 15, around 1 p.m. Two bodies were found in the home after the fire was extinguished.

The two have been identified as Lisa Marie Hartwick, 41, and Gregory James Bennett, 44. 

The fire and the circumstances of the deaths remain under investigation by the Renfrew and Killaloe OPP Crime Units and the OPP East Region Support Team, under the direction of the OPP Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and in conjunction with the Ontario Fire Marshal's Office.

The Office of the Chief Coroner (OCC), and the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service (OFPS) are also working on this case. 

While the fire has been deemed suspicious, police say there is no concern for public safety.
