Four Upper Canada District School Board schools confirm COVID-19 cases

By Dani-Elle Dubé

The Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) has received notification at four of its schools of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the last 24 hours.

According to an announcement sent out by the UCDSB on Wednesday evening, at least one individual at the following four schools has tested positive for the virus:

  • St. Lawrence Secondary School in Cornwall
  • Viscount Alexander Public School in Cornwall
  • Tagwi Secondary School in Avonmore
  • Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute

All four schools, however, remain open.

Specific details about a confirmed case of COVID-19 in a school are not directly communicated to the public, so it’s unknown if the cases are among students or staff.

The Eastern Ontario Health Unit has done assessments to determine those within the schools who may have had a high-risk exposure, and are actively communicating with those individuals.
